2007 National NE Division Meeting Minutes

National NE Division Vice President Joan Devlin opened the meeting at 9:15 am on April 14, 2007 according to ritual.  National Chaplain Barbara Nobile served as chaplain.

Division Vice President Devlin thanked everyone for their participation in visiting the veterans last evening at the Gino Merli Veterans Center .  She will be presenting a check for $350.00 to Commandant Carl Weinschenk, Jr. at the joint opening this morning.

Past National Presidents Barbara Nobile and Ruth Moyse were introduced along with all those serving in any capacity on the national level.

Those members reported sick or in distress were: Karen Nonnemacher (PA); John & Jackie Bowman-re granddaughter Emily (PA); Fred Markley (PA).  Joan Hastings and Twila Gensel both offered their thanks for cards and well wishes received recently.

PDP Tracey Killinger made a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last division meeting and to accept as mailed; seconded by Pat Engel.  Motion passed.

Under correspondence, PNP Barbara Nobile stated that she has received thanks from families that have received the certificates after a loved one has passed.  Carrie McIntosh’s granddaughter, Charnita, wrote to the Division Vice asking for a donation to aid her in her expenses in going to the Down Under Track and Field Competition in Australia .  100% membership certificates were awarded to the department presidents for distribution to their units. New Jersey had 5 units, Pennsylvania had 5 units and New York had 8 units.

Division Vice Devlin presented a written report of her activities and Assistant Division Vice Twila Gensel gave an oral report.  These were followed by Department Presidents Pat Kosut (NY), Carrie McIntosh (NJ), and Carol Corley (PA).

The Bible was closed at 9:55am in order to attend the joint opening and recess for lunch.

At 1:00 pm the Bible was opened to resume the meeting.

The Division Vice introduced Donna Brown, President of the Northeastern Unit of Pennsylvania and her auxiliary members.  Vice President Devlin thanked the auxiliary for all they were doing in supplying suppers for the members present.

Reports were received from individual units: James Earl Kennedy, Susquehanna Valley , Landis-McCleaf, West Hudson , J W Thurston.  Those unit reports that were mailed into the Division Vice included Messina Unit, All Divisions Unit, Chester County, and Lcpl Dramas Unit.

Old Business:  PDP Tracey Killinger showed the group a logo she put together for the NE Division.  After some discussion, it was decided to check into prices for the logo to be embroidered on golf shirts for the members.  There is a company in Binghamton NY that will be approached and a lady in Florida .  This information will be forwarded to the Division vice.

Operation Little Angels Chairman, PNP Barbara Nobile spoke to the group regarding the All Faiths Receiving Home in New Mexico who will be the recipient of our shower items at national convention.  There is also an angel bracelet available for $10.00 that can be ordered through PDP Tracey Killinger.  These are hand made by Tracey and Pat Engel.

PNP Ruth Moyse then spoke to the members regarding the interactive transmittal forms which can be found on the web site.  Go to www.nationalmcla.org and click on blank forms.  Once there, click on “transmittal” and this will link you to the Department of Florida site.  The transmittal can be filled in and will be calculated for you.  You can not save your information but you will be able to print it out so that all items are legible.  She suggested going to Staples or an office supply store to print this on the colored paper that is called for on our regular transmittals.

PDP Tracey Killinger stated that a letter and a report of life members of record are in the mail to all unit treasurers.  This will have to be returned to her no later than June 15 with any corrections noted.

National Girl Scout Chairman Sydney Minchin informed the assembly that the new Girl Scout Gold certificates are available at a cost of $1.00. The June newsletter will hopefully have more information.

The Bible was closed to allow the members to make a monetary donation to Carrie McIntosh’s granddaughter.  $115 was raised for her expenses.  This information will be made available to the individual units for review also.

The Bible was again opened and the meeting continued with new business.  Joan Hastings reported on national scholarship forms on the website.  You will have to print four pages for all the information.

A workshop was conducted by Assistant Division Vice President Twila Gensel on “Where Does it Go?” She allowed each person to pick a slip of paper out of a jar and then decide what report the statement on the paper pertains to.  Most often the question to ask is “Who Benefits?” in helping decide where it should be reported.

Division Vice President Joan Devlin will continue in this capacity and her assistant Twila Gensel was again elected to fill the position she now holds.

The Division Vice passed out certificates and gifts to those who took part in the meeting.

The meeting was closed according to ritual at 4:00 pm.

Respectfully,

Carol Corley, President
